You can now search for both members and recordings/items. You may search on a specific song (most useful in rare song instances), a date (YYYY-MM-DD), a venue, a location, an alternate name for a show, etc... There is a limitation on show search results in that only 50 results will be returned maximum, so make sure your search keywords are precise enough that the results are meaningful.
